Enhanced Athlete CODE RED fat burner has seemingly been a popular product since it appeared online last year. 

We’ve taken a look at the Enhanced Athlete website, and it seems that these guys specialize in selling anabolic pro-hormones, post-cycle therapy (PCT) supplements, and other products related to steroid use. 

In most countries anabolic steroids are illegal. Regardless of jurisdiction, use of anabolic steroids comes with immense risk (no matter what Rich Piana tells you). It seems that CODE RED fat burner is no longer available on Amazon; we suspect that this is because of the precarious legal situation Enhanced Athlete present the online merchant.

Enhanced Athlete do offer a range of regular bodybuilding supplements that don’t have a hormonal content.

CODE RED fat burner is one of these products. 

So what does this product claim to do?

According to the official website, CODE RED fat burner offers the following key benefits:

  • Reduced food cravings
  • Increased metabolism
  • Release of “stubborn fat”

The first two claims are pretty standard for natural fat burners.

Most comprehensive, professional-quality fat loss supplements worth their salt will at least try to offer some kind of appetite control support, and almost all fat burners try to boost your basal metabolic rate (resting caloric expenditure). 

But the last claim is a bit misleading in our opinion. 

There is no such thing as specifically targeting certain areas for fat reduction. 

Spot-reducing fat is impossible. Period. 

Promising people that your supplement can target areas of fat they haven’t been able to lose before is downright dishonest.

However, fat burners can help you take your cut to the next level, allowing you to reach body fat levels you’ve never managed to hit before. 

This would see fat deposits disappearing from places that you haven’t been able to make a dent in until now. 

But to get into your “last-resort” fat stores, you need to lower body fat levels to the point where your body needs to access these stores. This invariably means losing it everywhere else first.

So, can CODE RED fat burner help you do this?

Can it speed up your metabolism?

What about reducing appetite?

Is it safe? What are the likely side effects of using CODE RED fat burner?

Enhanced Athlete CODE RED Formula – A Premium Fat Burner?

The formula is the most important aspect of any supplement. Everything else is just window dressing.

Note that CODE RED is not suitable for vegetarians. However, we are given the full formula details, with each ingredient listed with its individual serving size.

At first glance, this looks like a fairly reasonable formula. There are some good ingredients in here, and many of them are scientifically-proven, potent fat burners. 

However, there is plenty in this fat burner that we don’t like at all. 

It contains substances which offer no value whatsoever. They do not help burn fat, they do not suppress appetite, and they do not boost performance. 

Some of the best ingredients are seriously under-dosed too. 

Let’s start by discussing what we like about CODE RED fat burner. We’ll then move on to discussing what we don’t like.

What We Like

There’s a really good amount of green coffee bean extract in each serving of CODE RED.

Green coffee bean extract contains a compound called chlorogenic acid which significantly reduces the severity of insulin spikes after you eat carbs or protein.

This is a huge benefit, especially if you’re fasting as part of your cut. A massive insulin response when you eat after fasting for a few hours means your body will be in “storage” mode. Not good for losing fat. 

With an extract standardized to 50% chlorogenic acid, there’s 100mg in each serving of CODE RED. That’s far more than we need, but we don’t think it is too much at the same time.

Green coffee bean extract seems to be safe to take in amounts right up to 300mg at least, as this amount has been used in multiple studies.

It’s also good to see both vitamin C and vitamin B5 in here. B vitamins are all integral to the metabolism process. If you don’t have enough of each B vitamin, you can’t release energy from food efficiently. Obviously this is vital during a serious diet. 

Vitamin C is also very important for exercise recovery and normal immune function. While cutting, your body will be under immense stress, and you can easily become exhausted and sick. Vitamin C can keep you in the gym through the entire cut. 

That said, these ingredients are very much supporting, peripheral ingredients. They are not important at all.

On their own, without a comprehensive stack to go with them, they will not make a difference to your next cut in any way. 

That’s everything we like about this formula.

Now on to what we don’t like. Quick warning; it’s quite a lot!

What We Don’t Like

The main problem with Enhanced Athlete CODE RED fat burner is that most of the ingredients are massively under-dosed. 

Some of them could have a major impact on your ability to lose fat while retaining muscle. But they are not provided in large enough quantities to make a difference at all. 

For example, CODE RED contains green tea extract.

This is one of the most powerful, reliable natural fat burners available. A compound in green tea called EGCG has a dramatic effect on body fat levels independently of diet and exercise (some studies have found that it led to greater fat loss in subjects who were dieting only, with no set exercise parameters involved). 

One meta-analysis of green tea use suggested that a cup of green tea each day could be directly responsible for a significant amount of extra fat loss over a long period of time. This seems a little speculative to us, but you get the idea.

However, each serving of CODE RED only provides 100mg of green tea extract.

That is laughably small for any fat burner, let alone one that is supposed to be a professional-quality, premium-grade fat burner. 

Our top rated fat burner at the time of writing provides 500mg of green tea extract per serving. 

Green tea is safe to take in large amounts and the benefits are clear when using between 300mg and 600mg daily. 

This is a serious limitation of CODE RED, and we see it with several ingredients:

  • Carnitine is dosed at 100mg when it should be dosed around 600mg at a minimum
  • Tyrosine is dosed at 250mg, when doses under about 800mg are unlikely to do anything
  • We get 100mg of choline bitartrate, when improvements in cognitive function begin at around 300mg daily

This is a major problem and we see it repeated several times in Enhanced Athlete CODE RED. Not good for a supposedly premium supplement!

Another major issue is the presence of totally useless ingredients. 

We’re talking primarily about theobromine here.

Theobromine is a xanthine molecule found naturally in cocoa. Some people believe that theobromine is a good fat burner because it supposedly has stimulant properties similar to caffeine, another xanthine molecule.

Here we would ask, why not use caffeine?

But some people just don’t like caffeine, so they look for something similar. 

The issue is that theobromine is many times weaker than caffeine. 

Ever eaten some dark chocolate and not been able to stop working all night? Us neither. 

Several studies have looked at the ability of cocoa to improve focus, attention, mental stamina, and so on; the usual benefits associated with caffeine. Most of them, like this one, failed to find any effect.

Enhanced Athlete CODE RED Fat Burner Review Conclusion

All things considered, CODE RED is a very disappointing fat burner. 

It contains some good ingredients, but many of them are dosed too low to really deliver any meaningful benefits. The green tea extract is dosed so low it may as well not be there at all. The same is true of the Tyrosine. 

Enhanced Athlete have also used some really over-hyped, ineffective substances in this stack. Until we see some studies showing theobromine as having a noticeable effect on fat loss, we’ll keep to our conclusion that it is useless. 

There’s no major appetite suppressor in CODE RED.

There’s no serious thermogenic. 

There’s no chromium. 

Enhanced Athlete CODE RED fat burner offers very poor value for money, and the results most of you get from using this will probably be quite limited. 

Much better stacks are available.
