Full Sheer Strength Fat Burner For Women Review
Sheer Strength Labs Fat Burner For Women is not a new product on the market. However, it does not seem to have received the same attention as other products from Sheer Strength Labs. At the time of writing, no other professional supplement sites have given this fat burner a full and comprehensive review.
We think this is perhaps because it is sold specifically as a female fat burner. The bottle has “for her” plastered on the side. This kind of gender designation is not given to some of Sheer Strength’s other products, which may be why they seem to reach a much larger market.
If you’ve read any of our other female fat burner reviews, you’ll know that we don’t really believe in the concept of a fat burner specifically for women, or specifically for men.
Therefore, we’ll be reviewing Sheer Strength Fat Burner For Women just like every other product featured on this site.
So, what does this product claim to do?
According to the bottle, this supplement is supposed to be able to deliver three key benefits:
- Burn fat
- Boost metabolism
- Slim down and tone up muscles
The first two promises are standard for fat cutters. In fact, any fat stripping supplement that doesn’t claim to do these things isn’t even trying to do its job. But the last claim is something special.
A supplement that can actually improve muscle ‘tone’? As far as we’re aware, there is no supplement in existence which can improve muscle density, striation, or conditioning (unless you count steroids as a “supplement”). So if Sheer Strength Labs can deliver on this promise, they really do have something amazing on their hands!
If you look a little deeper into the marketing material that comes with Sheer Strength Fat Burner For Women, you’ll notice that they make frequent references to the product’s ability to target specific areas of body fat:
You’ll notice here a couple of very explicit promises; we are told that this product helps with “slimming down problem areas”, that it can “burn belly fat”, and that it has been “custom-formulated for women”.
We take issue with the wording of all three of these claims.
The product may well have been specifically formulated for women, but that doesn’t mean it is more effective for women than any comparable product not specifically made with women in mind. There are no natural fat burning ingredients that only work for women; caffeine works for both women and men, as does green coffee bean extract, as does glucomannan, and so on.
So just because it has been designed with women in mind doesn’t necessarily mean it is better for women to use the product.
On the other two claims, we will say only this: it is impossible to target body fat in a specific area. It is possible to develop muscle in an area, which could give the illusion that it is less fatty, but there is no way to target, say, belly fat over all other fat stores. To reduce belly fat, you need to lower your total body fat percentage.
There is no such thing as “problem areas”. You simply have more fat stores in certain areas; for men, typically it is the gut. For women, it’s the legs and hips. So when you lose fat, these places will be the last to go completely because that’s your biggest store.
Does that mean it is harder to lose fat from these areas?
No, you just need to get yourself to a body fat percentage you may never have been to before; now that can prove tricky. But there is no mechanism which makes those areas harder to “tone up”.
Despite our skepticism about these claims, we still need to evaluate whether this is a good fat burner or not.
Is Sheer Strength Labs Fat Burner For Women good value for money? What about side effects? Is there anything better out there?
Let’s find out together. Here’s our full Sheer Strength Fat Burner For Women review, starting with the formula.
Sheer Strength Fat Burner For Women Formula
There is nothing in Sheer Strength Fat Burner For Women formula that is specifically and exclusively of benefit to women. The only ingredient which could be thought of as being particularly for the benefit of women is Cissus Quadrangularis.
It is thought by some health bloggers that Cissus Quadrangularis is effective for alleviating certain menopausal symtpoms, as well as boosting female libido. We believe these claims are unfounded. The most widely observed effect of using this herb regards bone strength and joint health, which we will come on to later.
Apart from that one ingredient, there is nothing apart from the label which tells me that this supplement is more beneficial to women, or that it offers benefits for women that other fat burners don’t; fat burners which some of you may regard as “male”, but which we regard as just a fat burner, plain and simple.
Before we start talking about specific ingredients and dosages, here is the product label as it should appear on the bottle:
First impressions: no proprietary blends and just 6 ingredients.
Transparency and simplicity are two things we always prize in a fat cutting supplement, so it’s good to see that the manufacturers have decided to be open about their formula, and to put their faith in a handful of ingredients rather than trying to hedge their bets.
Too many manufacturers stuff their formulas with worthless ingredients in an attempt to reassure consumers that they’re getting value for money. But value doesn’t lie in getting a little bit of everything. Value lies in getting the right amount of what works.
So what about the ingredients themselves?
Sheer Strength Fat Burner For Women Ingredients Review
Unfortunately, when we took a look at the individual ingredients in Sheer Strength Labs’ female fat burner, we were really disappointed.
There aren’t any ‘big hitters’ to be found here. There are none of the staple ingredients we come to expect in a modern, top-of-the-range fat burner, and there aren’t any ingredients that make it stand out from the crowd.
To put it simply, there isn’t very much in Sheer Strength Fat burner For Women which actually helps you lose fat, let alone tone up your muscles!
It will no doubt help if we discuss the formula ingredient by ingredient.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine HCL is always a welcome ingredient in a serious fat burner.
ALCAR is actually something of a wonder-supplement, which is why you will see it listed as an ingredient in everything from pre-workouts to brain support supplements. Many of the properties that make it perfect for these supplements are also what make it ideal for a fat burner.
For instance, ALCAR is known to be effective at reducing physical fatigue. Any of you who have cut with any sincerity before will know what dieting can do to your performance. ALCAR can help keep you going in the gym when your training reaches its peak.
Carnitine is found naturally in most people’s diets, but supplementation is a good way to support physical performance and weight loss. It will not make a huge difference to your waistline on its own, however.
Griffonia simplicifolia is mostly known for its 5-HTP content. 5-HTP is a precursor to serotonin; the neurotransmitter which makes you feel empathy, euphoria, comfort, and the like. While many of us could do with some help staying in a good mood more of the time, this isn’t a huge benefit in a fat burner.
There is some evidence that Griffonia simplicifolia can act as an appetite suppressant.
This study, published in Eating and Weight Disorders Journal in 2012 found that “that the supplementation of the diet of overweight women with 5-hydroxytryptophan increases the feeling of satiety associated with a decrease in BMI.”
However, and this is a BIG however, we do not know that supplementing with Griffonia simplicifolia is comparable to supplementing with 5-HTP itself. But we can still infer from the above cited study that it may have some impact on satiety and ‘binge eating’.
And as far as we’re concerned, that is where the real fat burning potential of this product ends.
We quite frankly doubt that Cissus quadrangularis has any significant fat burning qualities at all. Almost all of the uses associated with it are to do with bone health, joint functionality, or “feminine disorders” such as loss of libido or severe menopausal symptoms.
As stated very succinctly by Examine.com:
“Traditional usages are mostly catered around treating feminine disorders (menopause, libido, and menstrual disorders) or treating bones (increasing bone mass or accelerating fracture healing rates) which gives it the traditional name of the ‘Bone Setter’; some other traditional usages are in regards to its supposed antiulcer properties, antihemhorroid properties, and pain relieving properties.”
Granted, it does seem to be very effective at improving joint function. But that isn’t anything we look for in a supplement designed primarily to help speed up fat loss.
Sure, you have a higher chance of getting injured while cutting. But the answer to that is not to take a substance known to improve joint health in the elderly; the mechanisms at work here are not the same.
Rhodiola rosea is typically found in anti-anxiety supplements. It seems to have some pretty serious cognition-boosting effects. While this isn’t a bad thing, we can’t get excited about it unless it is combined with something to help with fat loss, be it by supercharging your workouts or by accelerating your metabolism.
This isn’t a stress and anxiety supplement. If you’re serious about building muscle and maintaining a superb, healthy physique, then you should eliminate stress altogether as far as is physically possible.
Theanine is usually a great addition to a fat burner, because they usually contain large amounts of caffeine.
Theanine works synergistically with caffeine, amplifying and sustaining its positive effects while blunting the negative effects. However, the benefits of theanine are very much tied to there being caffeine present. This brings us neatly onto the final ingredient: dicaffeine malate.
Diaffeine malate is a compound comprised of caffeine and malic acid.
However, when you combine two substances, you do not necessarily get the sum of the new compiunds parts.
So consuming dicaffeine malate will not necessarily give you all of the same benefits as consuming caffeine and malic acid separately.
Since there are no solid peer-reviewed articles showing that dicaffeine malate works as a powerful stimulant in humans, we need to rely on user feedback, which seems quite mixed. If you read reports of what people experience while taking dicaffeine malate, you’ll such much more variability than you will see with regards to caffeine anhydrous.
Sheer Strength Fat Burner For Women – The Best Fat Burner For Women?
We don’t think this looks like a particularly good option for anyone looking for some help reaching their body composition goals. We certainly don’t think there is anything that makes this supplement better suited to women looking to maximize fat loss. Ultimately, then, we have to say that this is not a very impressive fat burner.
The only two ingredients with properties that offer any real benefit to someone trying to shed body fat while maintaining muscle mass are ALCAR and griffonia simplicifolia.
Yet these two ingredients alone are not sufficient to make a potent, effective, competitive fat cutting supplement. They will not make a noticeable difference to your cut unless they are combined with other, more potent substances (and even then, the usefulness of griffonia is doubtful).
The other ingredients offer very little in the way of encouraging fat loss.
Many of you will look at dicaffeine malate and wonder why we are not more pleased to see this ingredient listed. We usually lavish praise on products with good amounts of caffeine.
That is true, but we have no evidence that dicaffeine malate delivers the same benefits, with the same reliability, as caffeine anhydrous or even regular caffeine.
If you’re a woman looking for a superb female fat burner offering good value for money, then don’t waste your time looking at products marketed as “for women”. There is no such thing. What works best for men will probably work best for you too. Take a look at some of our top rated products and learn about the ingredients themselves before making a purchase.
